Robbie Shoemaker grew up in San Jose, where she had a wonderful childhood with two brothers. After graduating from high school, Robbie went on to study Social Sciences in several colleges in Utah, Colorado and San Francisco, as well as here in Santa Cruz at Cabrillo.
She married in the early 70’s and moved to the San Joaquin Valley, where raised two sons. She has two grandchildren. While in San Joaquin, Robbie was an avid gardener of flowers and veggies. In addition to canning and making jams, she enjoyed baking and preparing wonderful dishes for her family. Many of these goods, both pies and jams, won blue ribbons both in the Santa Cruz County Fair and the CA State Fair.
Robbie’s interests are vast. She is an avid movie buff. She has traveled the world to many wonderful locations. She loves may forms of art, including photography. Both her acrylic paintings and her photographs have been featured in over twenty shows here in the Santa Cruz area. Her photographs have won blue ribbons at the SC County Fair as well.
At one time Robbie owned and operated a leather shop in San Francisco, where she created custom clothing for the public and for the Renaissance Fair.
Today Robbie is semi-retired. She works part-time for Meals on Wheels as a dining site assistant manager in Ben Lomond. She also cultivates one of the raised garden beds here at La Posada. Look for the Giant Sunflower at Bed #7.
Welcome Robbie to the La Posada community! Hopefully soon, some of your amazing artwork will adorn our walls!
